Gender discriminations in Indian workplace have been widely investigated. Though many studies have focused on the antecedents and consequences of gender discrimination, not many have focused on how one’s gender identity influences the perception of ‘being discriminated’. Based on twelve interviews and 240 survey respondents in a large organization in India, this paper examines the perception of ‘being discriminated’ in the organizational context with respect to one’s gender. This paper also investigates what are preferred actions in reducing gender discrimination in Indian workplace from the gender perspective. Implications for organizational interventions are discussed.
