Education, Gender and Sexuality
There is some awareness that education must be not only a space to transfer scientific knowledge, but also a space of citizenship and human rights respect, taking the curriculum to discuss the theme of affirmative policies to minor groups. Among minorities claiming a space in the curriculum are the gender based minor groups represented by feminists, gays and lesbians who report the exclusion of ther viewpoints from the tradicional curriculum and who propose resistance to the symptoms of sexism and homophobia in educational discourse. This work points to some actions of resistance like including the Gender Studies in teachers training courses, the production of critical studies about gender and sexual representations produced by media and the exploration of new forms of language to deconstruct binary excluding structures. Maybe these strategies can implicate the education and can allow for the less normalising discourses of gender and sexuality.
