Sexual Violence and Associated Risks: A Study on Trafficked Women in Mexico City

Trafficking is an integral part of the social and economic fabric of Mexico as in many other parts of the world. This practice causes intolerable degradation and suffering for the girls and young women involved, who are treated as a commodity. This process result a risk to their physical and mental health and in particular to their sexual health, which I have tried explore in this research. Sixty trafficked women currently working as commercial sex workers were interviewed with a semi-structure questionnaire and 13 in-depth interviewed were conducted in La Merced red-light area of Mexico City.
